Agrawals are the descendants of King Agrasen of Champavati in North India. King Agrasen had 18 sons who were married to 18 daughters of a Naga King. When Agrasen died his 18 sons established a town Agroha and after the name of town ‘Agroha?they came to be known as Agrawals. After that his 18 sons formed 18 gotras or sections. For some reason the last gotra is considered as a half gotra and thus there are seventeen and a half gotras among Agrawals.

Dhanpal Vaishya was the Prime Minister of the king of Khandela Janapada (Sikar). His four off springs established four castes ?Saravagi was established by Sunda; Khandelwal by Khanda; Maheshwari by Mahesha; and Vijayvrgiya by Vija. All these four castes claim their origin to be Khandela Janapada, but any other evidence does not confirm the theory of four sons. Maheshwaris claim their origin to be the ‘Khandela?kingdom, which was ruled by Chauhan warrior, Suryavamshi King Khadgalsen. Maharaja Suraj Mal (1707?763) was ruler of Bharatpur in Rajasthan in India. He is known as "Plato" of Jat caste in India. His exact date of birth is not known. Maharaja Suraj Mal created Raja Brajendra Bahadur, married 14 wives, including, (a) Maharani Kishori, (b) Rani Lakshmi, (c) Rani Hansia, (d) Rani Ganga, (e) Rani Kavaria, (f) Rani Khet Kumari.
